How to use chat in the mobile app
This article explains how to use chat in the RosterElf mobile app. You will learn how to open chat, create channels, edit or delete channels, send messages, and upload pictures. By the end, you will know how to use chat effectively with your team directly from your phone.
1. Opening chat in the mobile app
This section explains how to access the chat feature on your mobile device.
1.1 Open chat
1.1.1 Tap the Chat icon at the bottom centre.
1.1.2 Select Channels from the top menu.
1.1.3 Tap the + icon (top right) to create a channel.
2. Creating channels in the mobile app
Channels group staff into conversations.
2.1 Create a new channel
2.1.1 Enter a name and description.
2.1.2 Tap Select staff.
2.1.3 Select staff manually or use the Filter icon to filter by site or position.
2.1.4 Use the circle icon to select or unselect all staff.
2.1.5 Tap Confirm and then Save.
3. Editing and deleting channels
Admins manage channels. This section explains how to edit or delete them.
3.1 Edit a channel
3.1.1 Tap the channel you want to edit.
3.1.2 Tap the Pencil (edit) icon.
3.1.3 Update name, description, members, or mute settings.
3.1.4 Tap Save.
3.2 Delete a channel (admins only)
3.2.1 Open the channel.
3.2.2 Tap the Edit icon (top right).
3.2.3 Tap the Delete icon (top right).
3.2.4 Confirm deletion.
4. Messaging and uploads
This section explains how to chat with your team and share files.
4.1 Send messages
4.1.1 Tap a channel name to open the chat.
4.1.2 Type your message and tap Send.
4.2 Upload files or photos
4.2.1 Tap the Upload icon (bottom left) to add a picture.
4.2.2 Tap the Camera icon (bottom left) to take a new photo.
Can't see chat?
If you don't see the chat option, it may not be enabled by your admin or your app may need updating. Contact your admin to enable chat, and update your app via the App Store or Google Play.
