UK software buying guides

We start from the decision a UK buyer actually has to make rather than from a ranking. That means setting out what the software has to do legally — the Working Time Regulations limits, minimum wage bands, and holiday pay for variable-hours staff — then describing the main options and what to make each vendor demonstrate.

Not unless we have tested them on equal terms in this market. We have not, so the UK guide carries no competitor prices and no competitor scores — a made-up figure in a buying guide is worse than no figure. It tells you what to ask each vendor instead, and to confirm current pricing directly with them.

We say plainly in the guide that we make one of the products discussed, and we do not claim to have benchmarked the others. Read the section on our own product with that in mind. The genuinely reusable part is the checklist, which works just as well if you end up choosing something else.

It is reviewed when the underlying rules change — most obviously each April, when National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates are updated — and when the products in it change materially. The guide shows its own last-updated date.
